Decide what a smaller home would improve
Less unused space, a different layout, or a change in routine may be your reason to move. Identify the result you want before deciding how much preparation to undertake at the current house. If other people live with you, include their plans where relevant.
Create three lists for belongings
Decide what you will take, what needs another person's decision, and what you want to discuss leaving. These are planning categories, not permission to dispose of someone else's possessions. They help you describe the house before every item has been resolved.
Review possession as carefully as the price
Ask when the buyer would expect the house and what condition or contents are included. If you need more time for the household transition, raise it early. Any agreed occupancy or removal terms should be written down before you rely on them.
